The Building Department is responsible for issuing Building Permits, including plan check review, and inspections. The Building Department Issues Building Permits to homeowners and/or contractors to regulate construction activities within the Town's limits consistent with State and local codes. The primary purpose is to provide a minimum standard to safeguard life, health and property and regulate the control of design, construction and quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of all buildings and structures within the Town limits.
Certain types of projects which require a Building Permit, such as new residences, large landscaping projects, additions etc., are typically required to be reviewed by the Town's Advisory Design Review (ADR) Group and approved by the Town Council.
If you are considering a project, staff recommends you contact a professional architect/engineer/planner and schedule a pre-application meeting with Town staff to discuss your project before you have construction drawings prepared.
