Natalie Coffin Greene Park Reopening Ceremony
Calendar Date:
Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - 10:00am
Please join the Town of Ross for a commemorative celebration of the reopening of Natalie Coffin Greene Park and the restoration of the Three Bear Hut on Tuesday, September 10th at 10:00 am. The event will be held at the Three Bear Hut structure and will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and guest speakers.
Three Bear Hut was constructed in 1935-36 as part of the Phoenix Lake Picnic Ground, one of three picnic shelters built by the Civilian Conservation Corps on Tamalpais watershed lands. In 1967, the Town of Ross purchased it and the surrounding 25 acres for a new park using a generous bequest from Ross resident A. Crawford Greene. The new park was named after Crawford’s wife, Natalie Coffin Greene, a Ross native and a staunch conservationist. Three Bear Hut has been undergoing restoration for the past six months due to disrepair. We are very excited to have this historical structure restored to its original state.
We hope you can join us for this celebratory event. Please remember there is limited parking at the park so walking or biking is strongly recommended.
